It's been one year since Jake was first diagnosed with asthma. It's since been under pretty good control until more recently.
Lately, he has been having more flare ups. Could be the cooler weather we've been having, but it seems to be at other times as well, not related to the weather as much.
Last night he awoke with a high fever, sore throat, head ache and a horrible barky cough. The cough unrelated to the first three symptoms. The barky cough came with wheezing....not a good combo. So, to the nebulizer we went. He was so, so miserable.
The next morning, still high fever, headache and sore throat along with wheezing. More nebulizer and appt. made to the doctor. When this kid feels bad, this is pretty much the only look you'll get from him. Pure misery.

Turns out he had strep throat along with some pretty awful wheezing, so the doctor decided to have him do a breathing treatment while we were there to help open him up a bit more.

It was also decided we start more of a maintenance program for his asthma since it seems to be increasing in freaquency with asthma attacks that we don't always know the triggers, other than second hand smoke (smoking is STUPID!!), occasional pet allergies and damp/cool air. Hopefully, this will help to keep it from spiraling so quickly into bronchitis and the like since he gets it in like two seconds with his allergies and asthma when it does happen. Ugh.
